# SMS Marketing Data

> Learn what Provalytics typically needs to ingest SMS marketing data as a custom marketing source.

## Overview

SMS can be added to Provalytics as a custom marketing source when the team has structured recurring data.

### Typical required fields

* `date`
* `sms sent` `(proxy for impressions)`
* `channel name`

### Helpful optional fields

* `clicks`
* `campaign name`
* `creative name`

## Best practice

* backfill historical data if it is available
* deliver the feed on the same cadence as current data
* keep the structure stable over time
